5 Year Plan

After the completion of my education at Saginaw Valley State University I would like to continue coaching as a volunteer assistant at the university level.  I only want to volunteer, because it is still in my heart to train and compete.  In order for me to do this I must find part time or full time work in the same area as I would like to train and volunteer coach.  During this time, while still gaining vauable competitive and coaching experience I would like to get certified through USATF to prepare me to move up the ladder in the coaching world. By completing my coaching internship in Indianapolis I have been able to gain an understanding of self that I had not had before.  I understand that I need to be close to my family and friends in order to be happy.  I would also like to consider getting more education throughout this time.

Once I have spent my three years volunteering at the university level I can get my level 2 USATF coaching certification.  This, along with my extensive experience will enable me to get an assistant coaching job at a reputable university.  While coaching at the university I will continue to develop whatever athletes I specifically coach to national levels within their appropriate division.  I will continue to the next level of USATF coaching certification prior to applying for head coaching positions, getting my level 3 specialty certification in most likely endurance.

Once I have proven myself throughout those two years, I will seek out a head coaching position at a divsion 2 or 3 university.  I will be 29 years of age and will have tons of experience and knowledge.  I may want to look into getting a master's degree at whatever university I get my assistant job at.  This will increase my marketability as a 29 year old in a job market filled with vets looking for their retirement job.  I have encountered no reason why my coaching expertise will be subpar to anyone else's.  I will without a doubt be successful with the only limiting factor being self imposed.
