Tony Filipek - To the Streets

It looks as though I have to turn my focus to the streets.  I'll discuss my next three races, two being on the roads while the other one on the prestigious Mt. SAC venue.

Bay City St. Pat's 5K

My goal for this race is first and foremost beat Jon Wetters.  He is last year's victor and is a hometown favorite.  We talk a lot of smack back and forth.  He is in his last collegiate race tomorrow, then has no eligibility left.  This will be my 3rd time running and I have not won yet.  I will be the ultimate road victor this St. Pat's as this is the first year they will not be doing an 8K so there is one solidified 5K which will crown the distance king in the Tri Cities next month.

Mt. SAC Relays 1500

Due to some conflicts in coaching and time schedules at the meet I am hoping to be in an open section of the 1500 which should still be competitive.  Considering I will be seeded at my 3:46 PR from last year, this should put me in a good section.  My goal is to go 3:45-3:48 while sharpening me up for the USA 1 Mile Road Championships.

USA 1 Mile Road Championships (Grand Blue Mile)

I have been confirmed an entry into the championship of the 1 Mile on the roads.  I will be flying back from Cali Saturday, so this should give me a couple days to transition before flying back out to Iowa.  I am excited to run in this race and this will be my first opportunity at a USA Championship.

I am definitely excited for the upcoming outdoor season to begin, and for the snow to melt away.  Nothing ever happens exactly the way you think it will but either way it's time to go to work.
